But, you know, still sort of all over the map, because my influences are so wide and varied.” (Source: Absolute Punk) ![]() Autopsy For Tickle Me Pink’s Johnny Schou “Inconclusive”July 1, 2008

O’Brien added that EMI has made $80 million from sales of Radiohead records, but that “we still don’t own that material. We weren’t asking for money…The thing we wanted from EMI was to retain some kind of control over our copyright and back catalogue, but…Guy Hands wasn’t interested.” Radiohead left EMI after completing its contract with the release of 2003’s Hail to the Thief. In other news, Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger will premiere his first orchestral composition in a concert on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles on August 23rd. Einziger began writing the symphony while recovering from surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome last year, which forced him to put down the guitar for a while. He told us at the time that the project expanded his musical horizons even more than he thought: “I started working on it and then I learned very quickly that there were a lot of gaps in my musical knowledge, so I started studying five days a week with a teacher. I found a really great music teacher, and it’s been really inspiring. And I never would have had the motivation to do it unless I wasn’t able to play guitar. So something good definitely did come out of it, it just kind of happened in a roundabout sort of way.” Einziger plans to enrollment in music school for further study next year, while singer Brandon Boyd is headed to art school. Incubus just finished touring in support of 2006’s Light Grenades and plans to take an extended break before working on a new album. ![]() Scars On Broadway Premieres Video, Plans October TourJune 30, 2008

Radiohead continues to express its unhappiness with former label EMI Music over the latter’s recent release of both a Radiohead greatest hits package and a video collection. Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien told the Glasgow Metro, “The packaging is awful. There are three really bad photos. They’re not going to make any money from it because they’ll spend so much on TV advertising. Another thing is that greatest hits don’t sell in America. I don’t understand why they’re doing it. And you know what it’s done? It’s ensured that we never, ever, ever re-sign to EMI while there’s a (EMI chairman) Guy Hands involvement.”
